Who am I?

I am Emily Skippervold Mellem. A 25-year-old girl from a small town in the south of Norway. Currently located in the big city of Oslo, working as a full-time UX design lecturer at Noroff - School of Technology and Digital Media.

I'm also in the lucky position of being able to turn my hobby into profit by freelancing, working with startups and helping brave entrepreneurs develop a clear product strategy and MVP.

I have a Bachelor's degree in International Marketing and Business from BI Norwegian Business School and the University of Mannheim and a UX degree from Noroff - School of Technology and Digital Media.

I will describe myself as an energetic, engaged, and kind of nerdy girl that loves to interact with people and understand the bigger picture.

Let me tell a story

When I was 11, I got my first summer job in customer services and sales (selling popcorn and cotton candy to other kids during magic shows). Some might say that 11 is too young to start working, but I think that experience triggered something in me. Ever since, I've been curious about tackling new problems, meeting people, and spreading joy.

Over the years, my focus has shifted from popcorn to people. Through UX, I've found a field that allows me to be curious, to ask questions, to investigate and observe, to challenge the status quo, and to build relations I wouldn't be without.

With almost 10 years of experience in service- and communication-related roles, including Social Media Manager, customer service from post services and the hotel and restaurant industry, and lately, UX design lecturer, I bring a diverse skill set to my design work.

My methodology

I base my design methodology on the Design Thinking Process…

The iterative process opens for great flexibility and cross-disciplinary collaboration.

Feeding my curiosity

I enjoy getting involved in events, conferences, courses, and new ways to build relations, improve my skills and knowledge, and go beyond my comfort zone.
